One of our favorite destinations, Willows Lodge, announced the details for their fourth annual Iron Vintner Challenge. This June, four new Woodinville winemakers will compete to win the title of 2013 Iron Vintner, and raise funds for the Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center. Little Bit works to improve the bodies, minds and spirits of children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted therapy.
Taking place on four consecutive Wednesdays this June, the competition concludes with a four-course Championship Winemaker Dinner prepared by Chef Bobby and the culinary team at Barking Frog. The contestants, Chris Peterson of Avennia, Lisa Baer of Baer Winery, Tyson Schiffner of Betz Family Winery and Tracey LaPierre of DiStefano Winery will put their skills to the test while cooking in front of a panel of celebrity foodie judges and you!
Guests can look in on the cooking techniques and execution of each contestant while they compete against a rival on the patio outside Fireside Cellars. Winemakers are asked to craft an appetizer and an entrée in an hour or less with ingredients given to them just seconds before start time.
If you want in on the fun, visit the Willows Lodge website for more information. Tickets for each event are sold separately for each round at $50 per person during Rounds 1, 2 and Championship. You can also join the post-competition fun at a multi-course dinner paired with wines from the contestants home vineyards for $135 per person. Willows Lodge is even offering a 15% savings on their best available rate on Wednesdays during the Iron Vintner Challenge so you can stay overnight!
