Seattle area moms and dads who want to find great deals on fun family activities just got a chance to also give back to families and kids in need at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Starting today, AmazonLocal launched a special “Celebrating Kids,” week of deals featuring great family-focused deals in the Seattle area. For every kid-friendly deal purchased from Sept. 24-30, AmazonLocal will donate $1 to Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation (up to a maximum of $5,000). The foundation supports Seattle Children’s Hospital, which provides world-class care to kids, regardless of their family’s ability to pay, and Children’s pioneering research institute.
I get a ton of pitches and emails about a variety of deals, most of which I’m forced to ignore, simply due to lack of time. But this one from Amazon Local caught my attention for a couple reasons. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I am SO passionate about families spending time together with shared experiences, traveling, or exploring your own backyard. One thing you may not know is that Seattle Children’s Hospital is near and dear to our hearts and I’m forever grateful to the nurses and doctors who work tirelessly to support the families working through some difficult health issues. When my oldest was 18 months old, we spent a week at Seattle Children’s with her, managing a serious infection and surgery. We also are parents of a preemie and understand the great gift that the amazing doctors, nurses and staff give so many families day after day to families in need. Every little bit counts when you are talking about bringing comfort and health to kids and families around the Seattle region.
Today’s deal $7 ($15 value) for admission for two; $15 ($30 value) for admission for four for the Seattle Children’s Museum and will feature a new deal each day this week. So, keep an eye out this week for some great Amazon Local deals on fun things to do with your family and give to one of the leading pediatric hospitals in the United States, right in your own backyard. Remember – time is short, these kids grow fast. Make memories and make everyday, count.
