This past summer my husband and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. We both wanted a a sunny destination that had direct, reasonably priced flights from Seattle. A few other considerations: we did not want to wear bright yellow bracelets at the pool and have to cart around towel cards to the cabana, nor did we want to feel like we were on “resort row.” We wanted to escape to a tropical paradise and be pampered. We settled on the Island of Maui and the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea, for a relaxing and romantic 10 year anniversary escape from the kids.
The Four Seasons Maui at Wailea feels intimate and private compared to neighboring resorts, with just 305 rooms and 75 suites. The Four Seasons experience left us completely spoiled and pampered, with Evian spritzers poolside, chilled towels, fruit skewers, Kindles to borrow and no charge for cabana use.
Once we arrived, we headed to the Adult Serenity Pool and ended up spending most of our time there enjoying the peacefulness and the swim-up bar (blueberry margaritas for me!). The Serenity Pool was where some of the Maui Modern Family episode was filmed this past year (if you haven’t seen that episode – it is hilarious!) And if you can believe it, there is music playing underwater. Amenities are first-rate here and the property has outstanding restaurants including Wolfgang Puck’s Spago, and an excellent spa.
Kids Play Too
Although we didn’t bring the kids this time, we may plan to do so in the future. Open each day, the Kids for All Seasons program is outstanding. Other kid-friendly perks include the signature Four Seasons milk and cookies on arrival, infant gear (cribs, strollers, and even toilet-seat locks and electrical outlet covers for your room – all no charge), and a game room (video games, foosball, and more). You can even prepay for necessities including diapers and baby food and the hotel will have them waiting for you when you arrive.
The Four Seasons Maui was the perfect place for our couples retreat, to relax and celebrate our anniversary in style. It will also be top on our list for our next family trip to Maui. What is your favorite Maui escape without kids?
