We are continuing our feature of the Fairmont Kea Lani this week and now it is time to turn our attention to one incredible spa treatment that I will not soon forget. The Fairmont Kea Lani’s Willows Stream Spa recently won the distinction of Top Hotel Spa in Hawaii by readers of Travel + Leisure and I now understand why.
Be sure to check out our other posts including a Fairmont Kea Lani hotel photo gallery from our trip, check out our download on these Maui luxury hotel rooms, and more.
I got a chance to try out their signature treatment, the Welina Journey treatment first hand. Welina means “Welcome,” and begins with a traditional ti-leaf energy clearing which symbolizes the beginning of a new path. Very fitting given the new chapter that I’ve recently started in my career (more on this soon). It begins with a pa‘akai salt scrub performed on a vichy table (note – imagine shower heads raining down on you while you lie down on a warm water mattress with infra-red light therapy).
I was blown away by this unique experience – according to the spa staff, it is the only treatment like it on the island. Floating on a warm water bed, the treatment started with an aromatic salt scrub that felt like it was melting away my winter blues.
Next, the warm water rained down from shower heads above, rinsing the salt and my stress away with it. A gentle massage and mesmerizing scalp treatment followed, while Hawaiian music played softly in the background.
I left the spa feeling so refreshed and ready for a relaxing vacation in the sun. This is one treatment you must try.
Thanks to the Fairmont Kea Lani for the pictures, as I left my phone in my locker to unplug and relax!
