Can you believe we’re nearing the end of July? How is your family enjoying the A-Z #WellTraveledFamily Challenge? The Hip Travel Mama has been hard at work (and play!) to bring you the best activities for your family this Summer. We’re thrilled to share K-N of our #WellTraveledFamily Challenge and hope to inspire you to share your adventures this summer!
K is for Kona
Where else can you go from the Rainforest to an Active Volcano? Kona features tropical jungles, white and black sand beaches, and snowy peaks, which make it an excellent place to take a helicopter tour. Summer and Fall are great times to visit Kona, and there are plenty of great deals to be had. One of our favorite hotels in Kona, The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, is offering a Take 2 Promotion which includes every 6th night free with daily breakfast for 2.
L is for Layover
Layovers are a fun opportunity to explore what the airport has to offer. SeaTac has expanded their food and retail options, which now include a Quiet Zone at B4 for a break from all of the airport buzz. Are you an airline points perfectionist? Text FLYSEATAC to 82257 to earn airline miles when you park, dine, or shop in the Thanks Again loyalty program. Other great airports inlcude SFO, which offer wine and chocolate from the Napa Valley as well as an in-terminal yoga studio.
M is for Museum
We recently had the opportunity to speak with travel expert Samantha Brown about her partnership with Embassy Suites Hotels and the Association of Children’s Museums to encourage more learning and discovery this summer. As part of Embassy Suites pledge to help families get 300% more enjoyment out of their vacations, they’re offering surprise museum perks and VIP status for families staying at Embassy Suites during More-days. Samantha Brown told us that museums are less expensive and less stressful alternatives to theme parks, and a great way to explore the diverse cities of the United States.
N is for Neighborhoods
Explore Seattle’s fun and vibrant neighborhoods right in your backyard. Visit the Ballard Locks that connect the Puget Sound to Lake Washington and Lake Union. Bring a picnic and relax under the oak trees at the Carl S. English Botanical Garden. Head over to Pioneer Square and take Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour. Check out the rich culture of the International District at the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian American Experience. Love books? Head Downtown to the Seattle Public Library for books and some beautiful architecture. If you haven’t yet, head to the water for a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel.
