The Hip Travel Mama team had the pleasure of attending one of Chateau Ste Michelle’s wine pairing dinners, focusing on “Cuisine from Around the World” at the Chef Without Borders Dinner. Prepared by Executive Chef Janet Hedstrom, the dinner featured delicious foods from all over the world.
The night began with some delicious appetizers, including Falafel, Tahini Yogurt, Fried Pita, Cucumber and Tomato Salad paired with the Domaine Ste. Michelle 2006 Luxe, Columbia Valley. Surrounded by stacks of wine barrels and the knowledgeable staff, it was great to have a chance to take in the beautiful surroundings.
One of our favorite treats? The Egyptian Dukka Spice Dip.
We loved the Moroccan Chermoula Spiced Quail with Rhubarb and Lemon Confit, Rose Jam, and Almond and Lemon Cous Cous.
The spectacular dinner finished off with one of the best desserts we’ve ever had: Paris-Brest with Grand Marnier Pastry Cream and Fresh Strawberries.
Executive Chef Hedstrom said, “The chef dinner series is a chance for us to showcase what we do at the winery for the public, as most of the events we do are private. We feel like we provide the guest with an interesting way to learn about wine by allowing them to try a number of different wines with the dishes. Plus it’s fun to play with the flavors! It’s what we get to do every day and we like to share that with our guests.”
Chateau Ste. Michelle will be hosting additional chef dinners throughout 2013. Pricing is $120/per person, or a special discount for members. For more information, visit Chateau Ste. Michelle’s website.
