A visit to my home town of Portland, Oregon typically involves a stay at one of the many hip, downtown Portland hotels. We love to explore this walkable city and all of its fun shops and restaurants. On our last visit, we were fortunate to stay at one of the newest properties to be added to Kimpton Hotels portfolio, The RiverPlace Hotel. RiverPlace is a wonderful city retreat for families, with a wide range of accomodation choices, including deluxe rooms and one-bedroom hotel suites situated on the beautiful Willamette River. Many rooms have gorgeous views and all have super plush beds.
Guests of RiverPlace can expect all of the wonderful perks of staying at a Kimpton property, including hosted Wine Hour every day from 5-6 p.m, with complimentary wines hand-selected by RiverPlace’s Master Sommelier. Kids and parents will enjoy the cozy animal print robes and the infamous perks of the Kimpton Kids program. There are bikes for you to use during your trip to take a ride down the long waterfront loop, go for a run or on warmer days, sit out on the grassy lawn overlooking the river. Food and wine are also great at the Three Degrees restaurant onsite and the wine selection at Three Degrees includes some of my favorites, including EFESTE, and Willamette Valley’s Penner Ash Rubeo.
For families considering a visit during the holidays, River Place has created a Hot Chocolate Bar adorable gingerbread-flavored marshmallows that are shaped like gingerbread men. Offered in the lobby with morning coffee service from 6 a.m. – 9 a.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. on weekends.

The property is also a very dog friendly Portland hotel, and our chocolate labradoodle, Roxy loved her cozy bed and treats provided by the hotel. The waterfront access is perfect for taking your little pup out for a stroll before bedtime.
