I’m loving the new Hotel Tonight app that makes booking a last minute hotel from your phone super simple and fun. While Hotel Tonight may be geared more towards the single set, as a business traveler and someone who loves the thrill of booking at the last minute, (and one who is obsessed with discovering new beautiful hotel rooms), this app has a lot of great potential.
How it Works:
Every day at 12pm, HotelTonight releases three featured hotel deals for that night – one hip, one elegant and one basic – in each of the cities it currently supports: New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston and Washington D.C. Users can scroll through details and photos of each hotel and quickly book a room as late as 2am, several hours after the big travel sites stop taking reservations. I’ve taken it for a test drive and the hotels and information it features are good, informative, and deals are good value. No suprise, I especially like the “hip” category.
Sarah Lacey and Paul Carr at Techcrunch TV followed Hotel Tonight’s CEO, Sam Shank around San Francisco as they aimed to book three hotels using HotelTonight. Here’s a link to the video of their experience booking a last minute hotel room through Hotel Tonight. ARVE Error: need id and provider
Right now you only get three choices of hotels a day (one in each category) and the service is limited to a few select cities (not available in Seattle yet). But if you love to wait until the last minute to book a hotel, want to stay an extra night, or catch a spur of the moment rendevous with your husband, this app may just come in handy.
HotelTonight is currently available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The company anticipates supporting other platforms such as Android in the future. Download the Hotel Tonight in the iTunes store and get a $25 booking credit.
