My absolute favorite time of year at Pike Place Market in Seattle is in the spring, when the tulips, daffodils and hyacinths appear in rows of vibrant colors. I scoop up as many bouquets as I can while they are out and cherish the beauty they bring to the amazing energy of the market. I’ve worked and lived in Seattle for 17 years now and ironically, most of my technology career workplaces were surrounding the market.
Each spring for weeks when the weather was dark and rainy, I would trek up to the vendors in the market and purchase a big bouquet of giant tulips to sit on my desk, a little bright reminder that spring was indeed coming. Now that I’m a mom, I love to share the excitement with our kids, watching their eyes wide with excitement as they peruse all the exciting artisian’s crafts, sample cookies as big as their heads and watch them throw fish at Pike Place Fish. As an aspiring foodie, the rows of fresh fish and vegetables are a feast for the eyes.
